Roleplay Request[Note: If you're a watcher, this is just a heads up that this journal is for a group submission for requesting RPs.]
I am taking a chance here in hopes of gaining some new RP partners.
Please respect my decision if I do not want to RP with you.
I have a right to decline an RP as much as you do.
Please try and match my post length.
If I put so much effort into a post, it is only respectful to attempt to match it. This doesn't mean it has to be the exact length or word count. However, if I post 10 lines or 150 words in a post, having you post back with 3 lines or 30 words is just rude and shows a lack of effort.
I will NOT RP with a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu.
If I feel that your character is a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu, I will not RP with you.
Please be patient while I work on my post.
When I do a long post it may take me some time to type it up.
Do NOT God-Mod.
This means you attempt to take control of my character

Thanks EveryoneI just wanted to post a quick journal to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday and for those who sent me birthday cake badges. I actually didn't expect to have the birthday cake badge entirely filled up!
Even though I didn't get to celebrate my birthday on it's actual date this year (I'm waiting for my hubby to return) it was still awesome thanks to all y'all.
Tomorrow it'll be back to the college grind, but thankfully for my birthday weekend I didn't have any assignments to worry about! It was so nice to have a long break and not stress about getting something done.
Hiatus UpdateGeeeeeeehhhh, it's been so long since I've had time to spend more than a few seconds on deviantArt.
I finished my midterm after much suffering and in fact... I redid it about 5-6 times. Not joking. It was exhausting. And I still haven't gotten a grade for it yet, so I am nervous. I thought after the midterm things would relax a bit. I was wrong.
I still have to finish the first group project I had in this class. Only after the midterm for us to get another group project. WTH WHY?! Luckily, one of the deadbeat members that I never even spoke do beyond once (because apparently this fresh out of high school kid doesn't check text messages or his email) has been pushed off into another group to make the groups even in number since people dropped the class. The drop date is right before the midterm, so people who were bombing dropped.
Then I have an individual research project in the same class and then there will be a second part to an
HiatusI'll be taking a small hiatus from most of my activities on dA (as this consumes most of my time online, actually) due to college. I have a group project to finish (which I've pretty much done entirely by myself), then a mid-term for the same class (which is going to require at least 2 weeks to complete), and have just started an 8 week math course (so I have this class almost every single weekday).
The math class work is... insane. While we don't have "homework" in the traditional sense, we are encouraged to work on the exercises in the book since the test questions will be based off these exercises. Since we go through a section a day, and the exercise questions range from about 60 - 150 per section, on top of having to do a group project AND a mid-term for a troublesome class (not even gonna bother discussing the other crap), I'll be limiting myself on dA.
Basically, I have to complete my math work (which will take a few hours) and then go back over my group projec
Killer HeadacheI just completed a group assignment for a class entirely by myself. I have a terrible headache and am now frustrated and beyond miserable.
What's more annoying is that the Professor decided to change the assignment... again... and notify everyone through the message board for the class, which doesn't send out notifications to any students. So, if you didn't happen to check the board (like I did just today, the day before the assignment is due) then you're screwed.
What is sad is that my group had given me all their contact information, and I did contact them with my part of the assignment, only to hear back from one single person, who was also trying to connect with them to find out what they had done so they could do a section of the assignment that no one had wanted.
So today, I just ended up doing the entire group assignment myself. I hadn't even read one of the chapters that was needed for it. This was due to how many times he's changed the actual assignment
PE Art Features and Daily DeviationsDaily Deviations:
As per :faq61:, The Daily Deviation is a daily feature chosen from galleries here on deviantART.
A small assortment of submissions are chosen each day by a select group of staff/volunteer members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large.
Benefits of suggesting Daily Deviations:
helping artists gain more exposure
deviantART is such a large website with many members, often great art can fall through the cracks and go unnoticed as a result. Daily Deviations are usually a wonderful way to put a bit of a spotlight on a particular piece or artist. Often people like to focus on the lesser known artists, though it may be worth noting that even deviations uploaded by popular artists can at times use more exposure as well
Want to Become an Alpha Tester? Now's Your Chance!Update: A massive thank you to everyone who sent in a application to be an alpha tester! Applications are now closed. Due to the volume of applications it will take a few more days to finish going through them. Users will be contacted if they are successful in getting a place, so keep an eye out! - $DEVlANT
Calling all beta testers, bug lovers and feature loving deviants.
I have exciting news! %devBUG is looking for some new deviants to be Alpha Tester!
But what is an alpha tester?
An Alpha tester is a bit like a Beta tester only they get to test out new features before Beta testers do.
So, what do alpha testers get to do?
As an alpha tester you'll have the chance to talk to staff and developers about new and upcoming features, and help find and report any bugs that there may be, before it goes to beta testers or th

Let The Light In: Daily Deviations:icongood-intention:
'Let The Light In (LTLI) is a new tutorial series from the group %Good-Intention that will focus on the hows and whys of committing good deeds around the deviantART community. The first article can be found here: LTLI: Art Features
The second edition of this series will focus on the topic of Daily Deviations, and how you can contribute to the community by suggesting them!
What Is A Daily Deviation?
A Daily Deviation is a one-day feature of artwork from various galleries that is chosen by a Community Volunteer (CV). These are showcased at the bottom of most pages on deviantART, as well as displayed in a chronological archive.
There are many misconceptions regarding Daily Deviations, from users believing they're given away as prizes, or given only to friends and popular users of the community. My aim with this article is to help to shine a light on Daily Deviations, and h
A Note on Daily Deviation FeaturesAt ten features into my tenure as Community Volunteer for Abstract & Surreal Photography I am noticing a certain trend in response to abstract and surreal Daily Deviations. I shall address some of the recurring themes here, and hopefully answer some questions along the way. At this point I would like to mention that I am talking about a small and vocal minority, and I sincerely thank the overwhelming majority for supporting the featured artists and their work. You're what makes this site such a great community.
With that said, let's get to the troublesome themes I am coming across.
The "This is crap!" Argument
As an observer and a critic, you're entitled to think that something isn't very good. However, exclaiming as such on the comments of a piece of work that an artist has spent time and energy creating is not only counter-productive, but rude and insulting, especially if it's not followed up with some advice about how you think they could make their
Gaining Exposure To ArtGaining Exposure For Your Own Art:
Being active on the site is probably the best and most effective way to get yourself and your art seen. Leaving thoughtful comments on others art will often result in them coming to your page to find out more about you and see your art. Being involved and making friends will promt people to focus on you and your art giving you a bit more exposure. Leaving critiques, helping to moderate groups, posting in the forums, or simply chatting it up in the chatrooms. These can all be beneficial in getting you more exposure. Below I'd like to outline some of the wonderful ways, I believe, you can gain extra exposure to your art.
Joining groups which are relevant to your interests and the art which you make can be very helpful in getting your art out there and seen by like minded individuals. The introduction of groups by dA has made it very e

Make a Difference #189Artists join deviantART to share their art and appreciate others. Due to the many artists out there, it's easy to get towed under and generally obscured from the public.
Make a Difference aims to do exactly that. This series of articles will hopefully make a difference to you as well as the artists featured weekly. Just by giving one minute of your time to write constructive comments, favourites and even watches will make a difference to these artists.
:iconFluessiges-Feuer: captures some intriguing shots indeed, many of which happen to be at the right time and place! Most of the photos featured here offer a perspective that we can engage further with.

^Nyx-Valentine arrived in our community and started whipping everyone into a frenzy with her relentless desire to bring the Artistic Nude and Fetish galleries to the fore. 9 years later, and it's safe to say that Nyx is not only a leader as a photographer in these galleries, but she has also established herself as a much saught after model. ^...
